It may be too soon to visit your hairstylist, but that doesn’t mean you can’t gather all the post-pandemic hair inspo you want while you wait for salons to fully reopen. Whether you’re looking for a classic, low maintenance style like long layers or you want something with a bit of edge like a blunt bob or a shag cut, allow celebrities like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Selena Gomez to help you out. Ahead, we rounded up eight trending haircut ideas you can save for your stylist—or DIY at home if you dare (but actually, please don’t).

First popularized by French actress Brigitte Bardot in the ’60s (and a longtime staple of Alexa Chung‘s in more recent times), curtain bangs made a comeback in quarantine. Much like their name suggests, curtain bangs create a frame around the face as they’re styled parted down the middle, and swept to each side. The low maintenance style works just as well on short hair as it does on waist-length locks like Kacey Musgraves. And as new mom Gigi Hadid demonstrates, they’re messy bun-friendly.

For those who aren’t afraid of making a commitment (or occasionally testing out their hair skills with a self-trim), there’s never been a better time for bangs. Have them cut so they hit the top of your brow for a more traditional fringe. Or ease into bangs by keeping them longer like actress Yara Shahidi and model Nadine Leopold, whose bangs fall just below their brows making them easy to transition into curtain bangs.

If months without even the tiniest trim has you craving a drastic hair change, you’re not the only one. Actress Gabrielle Union went from waist-length braids to her short, natural curls during quarantine, even adding bangs to switch things up. And model Stormi Henley has shown how versatile short hair can be by styling her new cropped cut air dried, done up in textured waves, and slicked back and parted to the side.

Bobs are another haircut having a major moment, especially razor-sharp styles like the one actress January Jones has been sporting. A blunt cut is especially flattering on thinner hair types, as it creates the illusion of more volume. But you can always add soft waves and load up on the texturizing spray to give it even more fullness. If you’re not totally convinced you can pull off a bob, ease your way into it with a slightly longer lob like actress Lucy Hale.

Blunt cuts admittedly require more maintenance than something with layers, so if you still like the look of a bob without the regular trims, add some movement to your cut. Models and celebs tend to keep their chin-length bobs layered, proving that it looks great styled curly or straight (and pink!). If you have thicker hair, adding layers is also a great way to remove some of the bulk.

For a low maintenance style that works on medium to long hair, ask your stylist to cut in longer layers like model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Not only does this style transition better than shaggy layers as it grows out, but as model Lais Ribeiro proves, it also air dries well.

You don’t have to go as extreme with your layers as Miley Cyrus did with her mullet to get a shaggy cut. Instead, ask your stylist to keep your layers longer like Selena Gomez, and consider adding curtain bangs like model Suki Waterhouse for a full-on ‘60s effect. The layered look works just as well on curly hair, too, as model Joan Smalls proves.

While short, blunt cuts and lots of layers might be having a moment, there will always be a crew dedicated to longer looks. For major length (think down to your waist), you might need some help in the form of extensions. But with quarantine giving us all time to cut out the heat styling tools and amp up on hair masks, a trim and some shaping should also do the trick.
