Summer Reads

I love to read. A good book is one of my fav things to enjoy year round, but for some reason the summertime brings out the ravenous bookworm in me. Maybe it’s because life’s craziness slows down a bit to catch a suntan?!? Not sure, but lucky for me I have a stack of great books to dig into and I wanted to share my picks that are perfect for some literary summer lovin’.

The Vacationers by Emma Straub

A two-week island vacation with their extended family exposes much more than tan lines. It’s a perfect venue to expose quirky family dysfunction and Emma Straub does a great job working her characters. A delicious summer read.

Tempted by Paul Micheals

His father murdered, his mother looking to him for support, Alexi Gallo needs a job and he needs it now. The Arsonist by Sue Miller

Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith

Written under the not so secret pen name of JK Rowling, this crime novel has the goods. Rowling’s, err I mean Galbraith’s, words deftly conjure the story that plays like a film in your mind’s eye. I’m tearing through the pages and can’t wait for the recently published follow-up novel to hit my mailbox. You will be sure to enjoy the luggish, yet lovable private investigator digging through a police confirmed suicide at the behest of the dead woman’s adopted brother.

Wild by Cheryl Strayed
