Beauty...
My personal go-to girl for everything beauty and style related, Emese Gormley, is back with her new must-haves for Fall!
With the cooler weather coming in, I get pretty pumped to bring out the Fall wardrobe. But this year I decided I wanted to tweak my style a bit … I love the idea of being simple and chic – pared down basics, great accessories…and always the hint of a soft scent.
My first purchase of the season that got me very excited was actually last week in NYC at La Garconne with Molly…we always love to meet up and hit a few favorite shops, and this one is the epitome of how this 37-year-old gal wants to dress. Everything is modern and simple yet elegant. And the first purchase I made was a pair of The Row leggings. Now, normally I wouldn’t consider spending more than $50 on a pair of leggings…but being a new mom that is always chasing after a toddler, I need comfortable pants that still look good if I have to run to a meeting. And these are them. They hold you in in all the right places, the simple seam up the back of the leg makes them a tad dressier…and the fabric? Well that’s what it’s all about. They are perfection. And I already feel like I have gotten my money’s worth with them….
Now to go with the leggings? Every woman who walks ANYWHERE at ANY POINT needs to own a pair of Golden Goose sneakers. They’re like Converse on steroids – but even comfier. It doesn’t get better. I always feel cool when I throw them on.

The other day I got a Net-a-Porter delivery – unfortunately, my husband gets the emails from the doorman when any package arrives … and this one said “NET A PORTER BAG” in all bold. I mean – cut a girl a break, can’t you just put package so my husband doesn’t have to know? I digress. In that magical little bag was a magical little jar of even more magical wonders for my hair: Christophe Robin Sea Salt Purifying Scrub.
A scrub for the hair you ask? It seems crazy until you feel the delicious lather it works into – and then when your hair feels clean and fresh like it can’t possibly do with any other shampoo? What it does is basically clarify your hair and remove all that residue that other shampoos/conditioners/products leave behind. It reboots your scalp and in turn rejuvenates your hair. Like I said, magic.
When I first moved into the building we live in now, our doorman came up to me and said “Sorry, but you smell really great and I want to know what it is so I can buy it for my girlfriend.” That same day, a woman came up to me in Whole Foods and admitted that she had trailed me through three aisles until she had to ask what I was wearing. Instead of being weirded out, I was flattered (and then briefly horrified – did I overspray? Was I that person that bathes in fragrance??). But alas – it’s just the beauty of Le Labo’s Another 13. It has a distinct scent that isn’t overpowering but it definitely leaves its mark. A few months later at a Goop dinner, Jessica Seinfeld stopped in her tracks to ask what perfume I was wearing. It’s THAT good.
So while I normally don’t like to reveal my scent – this one is too good to not. The bummer is you have to buy it online from the fantastic store in Paris, Colette – because Le Labo made it exclusively for them, which sucks. But the good news is that it doesn’t cost you any more to order it online from them then if you bought another fragrance from them in a store stateside. I warn you – wear this with caution. You WILL be stopped. Almost daily. So spritz away.
