When it comes to dieting, it’s all about the healthy swaps. I like to call it my “angels” and my “devils.” One of my biggest weaknesses is snack foods like pretzels and chips. It’s not so much the snack itself but the crunch I crave.
Instead of grabbing for the potato chips, choose a more low-calorie option like a delicious batch of roasted chickpeas. I know, I know. Can they really replace a greasy bag of chips? As a matter of fact, you’ll be surprised how delicious this recipe is!
Foods that are a bit spicy keep me satisfied longer so I chose to add some cayenne pepper, cumin, and chili pepper for a kick. They are also a great source of protein–which will power you through your day.
Here’s a recipe for a guilt-free snack you’ll feel good about:
Ingredients:
Directions:
STEP 1: Pour all ingredients into large mixing bowl. Stir until chickpeas are completely coated. If you prefer a spicier flavor, add in a few extra pinches of cayenne pepper.
STEP 2: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer chickpeas from bowl making sure there’s no overlapping.
STEP 3: Set oven for 400 F. Let chickpeas roast for about 30-40 minutes. When crisp, let cool and enjoy!
TIP: If you don’t like spicy foods, season your chickpeas with whatever you please. Make them sweet, salty, or something in between. Here are some other recipes to try out:
