Supplies:
Directions:
STEP 1: Rip linen into 13 x 18 inch pieces. To give it a more frayed look (which I love!) start cutting with scissors but finish ripping along the cut line with hands.
STEP 2: Combine 2 teaspoons of dye with 1/2 tsp. of water in a plastic cup for each individual color. Stir with wooden craft sticks until dye is dissolved.
STEP 3: Fill each plastic tub with 8 cups of water, 1/2 cup salt, and 2 tbsp. baking soda. Pour the dye in and stir with plastic spoon.
STEP 4: Dip one side of the placemat into the dye mix while holding the other side upright as straight as possible. Let soak for 1 minute. Lay to dry.
STEP 5: Repeat the same steps with opposite side of placemat with a different color. Hang the placemats to dry.
STEP 6: To make sure the color doesn’t bleed, wash placemats in cold water before using. And, there you have it! A dip dye placemat to brighten up any table setting.
