Beauty...
Yesterday I shared a video on my reflections from Grey’s first year and today I’m excited to share how we got to celebrate it! You guys know how much I love a theme so we decided to go with Camp Stuber for baby Grey’s first birthday! Why Camp Stuber? Well, it’s honestly just what we call our home whenever we have play dates or other kids over. We feel like a camp most of the times. For Grey’s party we had teepees, faux fur bear rugs, fake fire pits and more! The kids had the time of their lives!
I worked with my friends, Stefanie Cove and Mimi Brown to make Camp Stuber come to life. We decided on a hand-painted sign to put at the front door entry that directed the campers to go inside. Then, put together a mood board for the decor. We thought plush fur rugs, soft blankets and fuzzy pillows would create a cozy lounge space under the fabric teepee tents from Pottery Barn Kids. We had themed directional signs for face painting, woodland creatures and balloon stations. We wanted a crafts station where the kids could put together woodland creature masks along with other cute camp site details, like a faux fire-pit and stuffed teddy bear with a “don’t feed the bears” sign.
I’m a firm believer that it’s all in the details. We had “Camp Stuber” cups designed and I wanted to make sure that they’d be something that I can use for future events. We had wood grain paper straws and mason jar cocktails served with campy yellow gingham napkins and bear napkins for the kids. We coordinated a scavenger hunt that had cards with tree branch pencils and camper lanterns for a fun pop of red.
Lastly, we figured out the food. It was catered by The Clean Palette who served avocado toast, mini grilled cheese, mini ants on a log with sun butter and a trail mix bar as appetizers. For lunch, she put together a turkey chili bar with all the fixings, mason jar shaved brussels sprout salad with marcona almonds and parmesan, chicken fingers with truffle honey and vegetable crudités! Now, dessert was a crowd pleaser (obviously). The Clean Palette served s’mores cups (small mason jar with graham cracker, chocolate pudding and a toasted marshmallow top).
Lori Stern created the most beautiful cake I’ve ever seen! It was designed like a teepee made out of vanilla bean and fresh strawberries with pretzels as poles at the top.
I have to send a huge thank you to everyone else who helped with Grey’s big day!
