Dearest Brooks,
Happy 2nd Birthday my love!!!
You are one of the brightest lights in my life. I thank my lucky stars every day that you are my son. I love seeing you grow and change every day. Each day is a new adventure. Daddy and I love you so very much.
From the moment I knew I was pregnant, I became obsessed with gathering all the knowledge I could to make sure I would be the best mom I could be for you. All of the baby books in the world couldn’t prepare me for the moment I held you for the first time. My heart exploded. I had no idea that love could be that expansive.
The moment you met Daddy in the delivery room, you grabbed his finger tightly. Daddy won’t admit it, but you immediately brought a tear to his eye. (Don’t let him tell you it was allergies.) The first few months were really stressful, you were so tiny! We though we might break you. I crack up now thinking about the stress I put myself under for even changing your diaper.
Nobody told me at first, but you were born with a tooth! Thank goodness for the amazing Linda Hanna, lactation specialist. She was an absolute angel during those dark times. Your first solid food was an avocado. You haven’t stopped loving and eating them since! The first times you said “mama” and “dada” I almost died of happiness overload. You crawled like a maniac and I swear you ran before you walked. We were on pins and needles hoping we wouldn’t end up in the emergency room every time you started to take a step.
You love anything with wheels, especially the “Wee-hoo” sound a fire engine makes. You really love trains too, which makes Grandpa Stuber VERY happy! You are my angel and sweetest boy even when the tantrum monster visits. You are our magic and we love you to the moon and back and all the way to the stars again.
XO,
Mommy and Daddy
