As a new momma or a momma to be, sleep is one of those things you crave the most, but achieve the least. That’s why I lean on a few of my fav, fav, fav products to make sure I feel and look well rested. It’s BE-yond important to remember to take care of yourself so you can care for your little one to the best of your ability.
The best thing about my tips & tricks below? Even if you aren’t a new momma, you can totally use these! Stressed out about finals? Working on a huge project at your job? All of my #SupermodelSecrets below can easily work for you too.
There’s nothing I love more than indulging in a face mask. I’m OB-sessed with Avon’s latest overnight mask because it’s perfect for gals on the go. It absorbs instantly and doesn’t leave residue on your pillow. It has shea butter beads that burst on your skin instantly and leave your skin feeling moisturized, replenished and completely refreshed.
Throw away those old tee-shirts and shorts and invest in a few pairs of luxurious PJ sets. I wore this pair when Scarlett was born and it was an essential comfort. If there were ever a time to pay attention to materials and quality, it’s the fabric you’re wearing while you’re trying to rest! Soft cotton or silk? Yes please!
Even if you’re not clocking in those eight plus hours a night on the regular, any amount of shut-eye helps. This is why I think it’s so, so, so important to pay attention to your bedding. After all, you spend a large majority of your time in it! Right now, I’m loving this Olive and Cocoa Blanket paired with Royal Bouquet bedding. Even if I’m up every few hours with Scarlett, crawling back into those sheets makes me feel well-rested and relaxed!
The simple act of lighting a candle in your home can be surprisingly calming. With two children under three, I keep my candles to a minimum and only light them once Brooks and Scarlett have gone to bed. This Murchinson Hume candle in white grapefruit has a clean, light fragrance that makes my bedroom feel like a spa. Plus it’s free of parabens, and sulphates, so I’m comfortable with burning it in my home.
Rosemary is AH-mazing for recipes, but did you know it’s also perfect to help with calming and insomnia? Rosemary is a valerian herb, which is known as a sleep remedy which aids is stress, so I steep a mug of rosemary tea right before bed. It’s the grown up version of warm milk.
I keep a spray bottle of lavender essential oil mixed with water by my bedside. During stressful days or when my mind is racing, I’ll spray my pillow and sheets with it for an immediate feel of relaxation. It induces sleep and it’s also a calming scent, so it’s great for aiding in anxiety, tension or nerves – all of those emotions that keep us up at night.
What are your tips and tricks for looking well-rested? Tell me EVERYTHING!
