Beauty...
After a long day, one of my favorite things to do is read Brooksie his bedtime stories. It can literally melt all my stress away. Normally it starts with just a couple stories and then by the end of the night, I’ve realized we’ve almost gone through the entire bookshelf! Brooksie loves his books! I mean, a #Supermomma can’t say no to her son’s love of reading!
I’ve compiled a list of his favorite top titles of the moment aka what we read almost nightly! Whether you have kids of your own or you’re looking for a perfect gift for a little one; a book is always a classic gift!
There’s a reason this is one of the most-loved childrens’ books of all time! I can still remember my momma reading this to me! This brave little bear gets trapped in a department store at night and goes on some wild adventures. I think I end up reading this one at least twice a day. I might even know it by heart!
Little Owl’s Night by Divya Srinivasan
We are OB-SESSED with this bedtime story. It takes place in a forest where a little owl wonders what daytime is like …because nighttime for the owls is so wonderful! It’s perfect for any child who may be scared of the dark. Plus the illustrations are gorgeous!
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Busy Spider, & The Very Lonely Firefly by Eric Carle
Another classic! Brooksie still can’t believe that this caterpillar can eat so much! Not only does it help with counting but they learn their foods! Brooksie still can’t believe this little guy can eat so much. Eric Carle has also come out with more amazing books such as The Very Busy Spider and The Very Lonely Firefly. We have them in a set and normally read them one after the other!
Llama Llama Series by Anna Dewdney
New York Times bestseller, Anna Dewdney’s Llama Llama books are seriously the cutest thing I have ever seen. They are also all the rage in the classroom! There are sooo many llama books to choose from but our favorites come in this box set. For a more interactive “llama” experience, Anna’s site even has educational tools for parents to go along with the stories. Absolutely perfect for children getting ready for pre-school!
Boys will be boys…and boys (especially Brooksie) LOVE trucks! It’s the cutest little board book about a truck that saves a school bus from a mud puddle up a hill. Can Red Truck make it up the hill? Red Truck can! Red Truck will! ZOOOOM! This will be a sure favorite of all little boys (and girls, too!)
Archibald’s Next Big Thing by Tony Hale & Tony Biaggne
Actor, Tony Hale (Arrested Development & Veep), has come out with an adorable children’s book about a little chicken always looking for the next big thing. Through his adventures, little Archibald learns some big lessons and travels to some amazing places. It’s a story that reminds us that, while looking for the next big thing, we need to enjoy what’s around us. I’ll be honest…I learned something from this book, too!
Okay, so these next two aren’t on Brooksie’s reading list but I had to add them in.
My Very Own Name Personalized Book by Maia Hagg
I received this book when Scarlett was born from a dear friend of mine. Throughout the book, forest creatures help spell out Scarlett’s full name letter by letter. This book can be personalized for any name. It’s such a unique gift to give a child and it’s timeless. It was one of my favorite gifts!
Teeth Fairies: A Baby Teeth Tradition by Ingrid Bencosme
Once your little ones start losing baby teeth, it’s inevitable that the tooth fairy will be a visitor. This adorable book tells the story of the tooth fairy and comes complete with a special fairy doll, a colorful keepsake box, and even a “tooth tracker” in the back! The children must name their fairy and look for it every morning when she returns from “tooth fairyland.” It definitely takes the fear out of losing a tooth!
