Beauty...
By Hilary Sheinbaum
Without a doubt, Kristin Cavallari has been a pop culture phenomenon and trendsetter since her early 2000s T.V. debut. In the years since, she’s become a mom (x 3), and a successful lifestyle entrepreneur, founding Uncommon James, Little James Clothing, and most recently, Uncommon Beauty, a clean and minimalistic skincare line.
Here’s how the busy mom of three starts her days, before her little ones are awake.
5:30 AM
I wake up and the very first thing that I do is I put workout clothes on. I like Beyond Yoga sets, just because they’re so soft and comfortable. I am a tried-and-true neutral girl, but I have everything from grey to beige to black. The reason I get up so early is because I like to wake up and have a minute of peace and quiet before my kids wake up. I also like to be hopefully done with my workout by the time my kids wake up.
5:40 AM
I splash my face with water and then I use Uncommon Beauty Pineapple Peptide Nectar, which is a serum that I just love. It smells really good and wakes me up. I brush my teeth. I don’t put deodorant on. It’s just me — I have literally no one to impress! I don’t see anybody until I’m done with my workout, and it’s just my kids.
I put my hair in a ponytail — nothing crazy. I always have earrings in. I never take them out. I have three holes in my left ear and two on my right. Uncommon James is honestly the only jewelry I ever wear anymore because selfishly I just designed what I like. I have on our Cross Huggies and an earring called Class Act, which is a little square huggy, and then Two-way Street Ear jacket, and a little stud in my third hole.
5:45 AM
I’ll come into the kitchen. I fill up my Hydro Flask water bottle, and then I turn on my Rocket Espresso machine. It takes a minute to warm up, and then I will usually turn on my oven as well because my kids’ favorite breakfast is a Dutch baby, which is sort of like a pancake meets a crepe. I have a recipe for it in True Roots, one of my cookbooks.
6:00 AM
I am usually working out by 6 a.m. I just go into my basement and I do circuit training. I lift weights at a pretty high pace, so that my heart rate is up. I usually work out for about 45 to 50 minutes.
As soon as I’m done working out, I get breakfast going [for the kids]. It’s easy because you just throw all of the [Dutch baby] ingredients in a blender. I use a Vitamix. It has a food processor component to it. Then you put it in your warm Dutch oven. It takes five minutes to make!
