Tinx. God, do we love her. Fun fact: she was our first ever guest here on Lipstick on the Rim. We were a new podcast, she was a budding star. Look how far we’ve both come. Now, known as the ‘internet’s older sister,’ she’s taking the world by storm as a lifestyle creator, advice expert, podcast host, and now author. She’s hilarious, she’s smart, oh, and she just wrote a book, “The Shift,” all about changing your perspective (not yourself) when it comes to dating, self-worth, and becoming the main character in your own life. We discuss everything she knows at 32 she didn’t know 30, the new treatments she’s loving, and so much more.
“We’re all human and we all make mistakes. I have had some mishaps and that is more than okay. I believe in saying sorry and I believe in moving on, since that’s all we can do. We have to just get better at saying “okay that was a mistake,” and also just the relativity of the mistake. There’s a lot of bad stuff going on in the world and we all just need to take a breath and think, is this worth 5 seconds of our time, 5 minutes, or is it a bigger thing?”
“I didn’t think that you were allowed to be happy by yourself. That’s not to say I’m not excited to find a person to spend my life with and fall in love with. Two things can be true at the same time. You can be so excited to fall in love, but you can also be happy and grateful for where you are. I think a lot more people just need to drop into gratitude and be like, “no I don’t have a boyfriend right now, but you know what I do have? A cool job, good friends, a nice dog.” Whatever it may be, we all have something to be grateful for, and if you turn your attention there, usually you find that a great person drops in sooner than later.”
“I just remind myself that no one else is going to do it for me, so if I don’t do it for myself, no one will. I talk to myself like my own best friend. It is so important to know yourself and to work on your relationship with yourself. I always tell myself “hey, this is for us, let’s get up and go do it.” I have come to the realization that we came into this world the same way we go out, alone, and I find that so empowering and beautiful.”
