Lipstick on the Rim: Molly and Emese’s Summer Checklist: Everything You Need for Beach Days and Beyond, Tips for Keeping Your Hair Color Vibrant, Summer Fashion We’re Loving, and How to Achieve Dewy ‘No-Makeup’ Looks

By Mollysims.com

It’s going to be a good summer (we say that every year, but this year, we especially mean it). Summer has officially arrived, and we’ve rounded up our go-to summer products that have earned coveted spots in our beach bags. We also dive into what beach bags we’re carrying said products in and how we’re styling said beach bags. Plus, we name-check our summer essentials for the whole family. From pool floaties to mom-approved suncare to chic kids’ clothing brands, we dive deep for our annual Lipstick on the Rim Beach Edit. You’re going to want to have your wallets in hand for this one!

[Emese] On How To Get the Most Out of Your Blowout

“I’m the queen of wanting to make your hair blowouts last.  I try to get a blowout once a week, so I really try to maintain it. Before I go to bed, I put dry shampoo into the root of my hair. I have been loving the Kérastase Fresh Affair Dry Shampoo which smells so good and it’s a huge bottle so it really lasts. Then I really brush it through my hair. After that, I take the Virtue Labs Healing Oil  and I massage it. I put it into the ends of my hair, from mid length down. Then I go to bed and I wake up with my hair looking like I just had it blown out that morning.”

[Molly] On Maintaining a Vibrant Blonde in Summer

“First and foremost, I’m obsessed with Kenra Clarifying Shampoo. It’s color safe, removes dulling deposits and product buildup, and brightens highlighted, bleached, or gray hair. I use it probably two times a week and it just gets all the deposit and gross stuff out of your hair to help it get bright. In the summer, I probably do it like three or four times a week because of the chlorine and all the things other factors my hair is exposed to. My next product is the COLOR WOW Dream Filter Pre-Shampoo Mineral Remover, which is actually a spray. This is another product that  filters out color-destroying minerals found in the water that dull, darken, and distort your color. Then if you really want to go hardcore, you’re going to use the Malibu Professional Hard Water Wellness Remedy. This is my secret weapon. They also have the Crystal Gel Treatment and the Blondes Wellness Hair Remedy, which are also great for your color. I also love to use the K18 Leave-in Molecular Repair Hair Mask. It’s great at reversing hair damage from chemicals and heat. It really restores your hair strength and softness. I also like to put this in my hair as a shield when I go into the ocean.”

[Molly & Emese] On the Best Suncare For Face and Body

[Molly] “I’m going to give myself a little bit of props, this product launched a year ago and it’s our [YSE Beauty’s] bestseller, the Skin Glow SPF 30 Primer. It truly is perfect for the beach and every day use. It gives a nice glowing, shimmery finish, and it has the benefits of SPF and niacinamide. It’s hydrating, invisible, and just gives you a great glow while you’re being protected. I wear this everyday, on it’s own, and under my makeup. For body, I love the Hampton Sun SPF 50 Continuous Mist Sunscreen, it’s great for kids and adults. It’s water resistant, reef safe, and most importantly, it has an invisible finish. More recently have also been loving COOLA because they have a great SPF50 for the face and the body that I like to apply throughout the day.

[Emese] “I used this product when I went to Miami a few weeks ago with some friends, it’s the Hampton Sun Silk Body OIl SPF 15. I layered a spritz of the Hampton Sun SPF 50 Continuous Mist Sunscreen underneath it on day one so I didn’t burn my legs, and it gave me such a nice tan. I have also been loving this new sunscreen brand for the kids called Bask Sunscreen and it’s a non-aerosol. Another brand of sunscreen for kids I love is Sqween. It’s specifically for kids and there’s one that almost looks like a paintbrush that they can paint onto their face, it’s great and so easy to use!”
