Beauty...
As many of you who follow me know, entertaining and design are two of my greatest passions and joys in life. I love having friends over, getting great food and opening up some incredible wine! When I told my go-to party planner, Stefanie Cove what I was planning, she insisted that I contacted Alison Franchi from La Petite Gardenia to do my tablescape.
I trust Stefanie with all of my being so it was a no-brainer. If you live in LA or New York and haven’t familiarized yourself with La Petite Gardenia, you need to! Their arrangements are stunning and earthy while being the most unique that I’ve seen. So, after this party was over, I asked Alison to do a guest feature on how she created the arrangements and tablescape. I’ll let Alison take over!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so I say, “Do YOU” not what you think is trending. Ask yourself, “What do I like” what style of art, fashion, design best describes you?
How can you enhance your interior space with gorgeous floral and vases. The vase is just as important as the flowers that live inside it. Choosing the right vase can enhance your blooms on a whole other level. Remember to have fun too!
So, when Stefanie Cove & Molly Sims asked me to help them design a white tablescape with white anemones, I looked to Molly’s interior and what was going on inside. Molly & Scott’s dining room is very modern, inviting, and stylish. Instantly, I was enamored by their focal wall show casing Kelly Mclane’s work.
This abstract oil on canvas with it’s grey, blue, yellow and white tones made me think of designing something edgy, modern, a little masculine yet pretty. Pairing exotic blooms with classic beauties. This is another great question to ask yourself, ” What kind of environment do I want to create for my guests”.
The final outcome encompassed ceramic matte black vases to highlight slate grey linen and of course Kelly Mclane’s oil painting. Dancing down the table we featured dinner plate white dahlia, delicate double hellebores in narrow bud vases, feathery blushing bride protea (LOVE these), touches of white freesia for a hint of that pepper/lemon aroma they give off, and of course Molly’s requested and favorite white anemone.
Creating a harmonious design complete with various smoked, mercury, and clear votive candles. Adding candle light to any dinner party is a, WIN!
