Happy National Margarita Day everyone! As if we needed a reason to drink tequila, now we have a reason to have a special date night to celebrate! In my book, Everyday Chic, I asked Cindy Crawford to give me her signature margarita recipe. So, today being National Margarita Day, I’m going to share it with all of you.
Cindy has always made the best margaritas in town, and that was even before her hubby owned a tequila company! This recipe of hers is the perfect balance of spicy and sweet, with subtle citrus and herbal notes.
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients:
Sugar, chopped fresh cilantro, 1/2 slice of grapefruit, and salt, for rimming the glasses
4 slices cucumber, for garnish
4 slices serrano, for garnish
4 ounces fresh lime juice
2 ounces orange- infused syrup
8 ounces Casamigos blanco tequila
8 cucumber slices, for muddling
Handful of fresh cilantro leaves
Directions:
Pour the lime juice and orange syrup into a shaker, then add the tequila. (Make sure to add the tequila last just in case you mess up! It’s always better not to have to dump the most expensive ingredient.)
Muddle together the cucumber and cilantro and add to the shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously for 8 to 10 seconds to chill.
Pour the sugar- cilantro- salt mixture onto a plate. Rim the rocks glasses with the grapefruit, then dip in the glass rims to evenly coat. Strain the margaritas into the rimmed glasses. Add fresh ice (fresh ice prevents the cocktail from diluting quickly). Garnish each glass with cucumber and pepper and serve.
Hope you all get to enjoy this delicious signature margarita tonight! And be sure to tag both Cindy and I when you make them!
